Police chase UFO over Cardiff, Uk
June 20, 2008
The pilot was forced to bank sharply to avoid being hit by the mystery aircraft as the helicopter was returning to the Ministry of Defence base of St Athan, near Cardiff.
The three crew, who described the UFO as 'flying saucer-shaped', then gave chase, getting as far as the North Devon coast before they ran low on fuel, it was reported.
The police aircraft was hovering at 500ft and waiting clearance to land on June 7, when those on board spotted the other craft hurtling towards them from below.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "We can confirm the Air Support Unit sighted an unusual aircraft. This was reported to the relevant authorities for their investigation."The three crew, who described the UFO as 'flying saucer-shaped', then gave chase, getting as far as the North Devon coast before they ran low on fuel, it was reported.
The police aircraft was hovering at 500ft and waiting clearance to land on June 7, when those on board spotted the other craft hurtling towards them from below.
It was reported that the aircraft closed in at great speed, aiming straight for the helicopter which swerved sharply.
"They are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw."
The helicopter crew are said to have crossed the Bristol channel in pursuit of the UFO, but lost sight of it and had to turn back due to a fuel shortage.
The sighting comes weeks after the most comprehensive Government files on UFO activity are opened to the public for the first time today and they disclose that even air traffic controllers and police officers have seen mysterious craft in the skies over Britain. The sightings range from incredible tales of little green men visiting the Wirral to corroborated accounts from policemen and pilots of Unidentified Flying Objects hovering above towns and cities.
All were recorded on official forms, held by air bases and police stations, and compiled by the Ministry of Defence between 1978 and 2002.Source

So now days UK police is more busy in chasing UFOS then thieves its scary man.Good find . . .
Really? But UFO's don't exist right? So how can it be dangerous/non advisable? Or do the MoD know something we don't? LOL!
Being a stickler for words, You have to love the MoD's poorly thought out response! Is it just me or does that remark beg more questions than it answers?
No picture was taken.
As for the MOD comment, which was very interesting, lets try and add some sense to it first. The Russians have been flying near British airspace for a while now, which is concerning the MOD, UFO does not mean alien craft - MOD could be thinking enemy aircraft.
Thats why the story is changing, if they cannot confirm what the police saw then the MOD will silence it. Last thing the population needs to hear is an unidentified aircraft entering British airspace.
Police said no pictures were taken, but all UK police helicopters are fitted with cameras (that is the only part of the story that does not make sense)
The original story from the Sun stated "The chopper is crammed with hi-tech cameras and surveillance gear, but the UFO somehow avoided being caught on film.
Strangely, the crew could not see the craft with night-vision goggles – but all said it was “clearly visible” to the naked eye on the night of June 7. "
Very strange indeed!
Very Interesting!
I am not surprised that the police helicopter did not capture it on camera, when you think about it, all the surveillance equipment is designed to capture what is going on below the aircraft i.e. when Pursuing cars and criminals etc. not for what is going directly in front or to the side of the aircraft.
Its one thing to capture a car travelling at 100pmh directly below you when you are hovering at 500 feet compared to a object travelling on a collision course at a unknown speed.
Cant explain about the night vision maybe the light that was given off was not detectable by night vision, may be it interfered with it some how. I was originally sceptical of the story considering the reputation of the Sun newspaper where I first saw it, but it was also on the BBC news.
its a strange thing why wale police hiding the identities of them 3 officers and why dontthey want to come fwd and earn some extra cash from people who want to know more.
i totally beleive that ufo's exists and one day they will land and show up.
Thanks for posting this report.
So we have danerous car chases and now dangerous UFO chases!?
All I know is those aliens driving the UFO better retake 'flying school' before they ever touch the controls of a spacecraft again since they (the aliens) are dangerous to public airspace.
and furthermore: I sure hope they get an ass kickin from their main leader or whosoever is in charge of punishing for flying recklessly and exposing themselves needlessly.
Actually they should have their flying privledges revoked for a year AND retake flying school.
Idiots.
