Vatican Astronomer Say He Would Baptise An Extraterrestrial, If It Asked Him

Vatican Astronomer Say He Would Baptise An Extraterrestrial, If It Asked Him

Now according to pope astronomer Guy Consolmagno "Extraterrestrial might have souls and could choose to be baptised if humans ever met them", said yesterday.

Speaking ahead of a talk at the British Science Festival in Birmingham tomorrow, he said that the traditional definition of a soul was to have intelligence, free will, freedom to love and freedom to make decisions. "Any entity – no matter how many tentacles it has – has a soul." Would he baptise an alien? "Only if they asked."

The pope's astronomer said the Vatican was keen on science and admitted that the church had got it "spectacularly wrong" over its treatment of the 17th century astronomer Galileo Galilei. Galileo confirmed that the Earth went around the sun – and not the other way around – and was charged with heresy in 1633. He spent the rest of his life under house arrest in Tuscany. Only in 1992 did Pope John Paul admit that the church's treatment of Galileo had been a mistake.Consolmagno said it was a "complete coincidence" that he was speaking at the British Science Festival at the same time as the papal visit.

He is not the only one from Vatican who had raised this issue Father Monsignor Corrado Balducci had also told world media many time that aliens do exist prior to his death.

Monsignor Corrado Balducci, was a Roman Catholic theologian of the Vatican Curia, was a close friend of the pope, long time exorcist for the Archdiocese of Rome, and a Prelate of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

He had written several books about the subliminal messages in rock and metal music, diabolic possessions, and extraterrestrials. Monsignor Balducci often had appeared on Italian TV to talk about satanism, religion, and extraterrestrials.

Down below is a rear video in which he described even how aliens look like :

  1. It never ceases to amaze that the "earth as the center of the universe" mentality persists in this day and age. If only there was enough openmindedness among these scientist, religious or otherwise, to consider, that maybe and Alien would not have the same philosophy as Earth religions, nor want to adopt that philosophy to their view of the world/universe. The other indication, is that they would deserve being baptized, because surely they are in need of being saved?? From what? From whom? This has been the stance of the missionaries since they decided to organize and infiltrate indigenous cultures to turn heathens into saved human beings and soldiers for "Christ." I just can't seem to fathom how this statement and position could be presented without receiving ridicule, or at least finding it laughable. If an alien has the technology to traverse the stars and surely it most certainly be possible, that their awareness is far more expansive of what "God" is and would not even need to be baptized. Quite frankly, their approach to the universe and the Creator, may well be best used in a study hall for all these astronomers and scientists.

  2. Nana,

You draw an interesting connection between possession of advanced technology and awareness of what God is. Perhaps underlying this attempt to connect the two is a presupposition unknowingly taken for granted by us, who are inheritors of the modern tradition. The modern tradition attempts to place on the same table of study material reality and divine reality. For that reason, many conclude that there is no "proof" of God's existence. "Proof" here means that which can be verified through the naturalist scientific method (physical observation, hypothesis, experiment, theory, repeatable verification).

Now you do not seem to be saying that there is no proof of God's existence. But you seem to share the same presupposition that leads to such a position.

My real point in saying this is that if one places the study of the material realm on an entirely different plane of intellectual apprehension (practical knowledge) than that of God (belief, the foundation of practical knowledge), then one would see that there is not a direct correlation between technological advancement and awareness of God.

To break away from this deductive reasoning, allow me to offer some examples of civilizations that possessed relatively advanced technological abilities yet would not necessarily be considered advanced in awareness of what God is:

Nazi Germany in the 20th Century.
    Egyptian Dynasties under the Pharoahs.
The United States and first world countries beginning with both the American and European Industrial Revolutions of the 19th century.

Consider another possisibility if we are to accept some witness testimony about some alien "grays." The founder of CSETI claims that they are on a rather dark mission to steal our genetic material to create a hybrid between human and gray for their own survival. I am not entirely convinced that this would be a spiritually advanced civilization.

It would seem that some might be in need of "being saved."

  3. im willing to bet ETs dont even believe in a imaginary deity. i can't belive they wish to baptise an ET. i highly doubt an ET would asked to be baptised

  4. @Christopher

I will be direct, in saying that you are also guilty of making a presupposition about mankinds understanding of the divine. Lets take your scenario that is of little gray men being incorrigible to the point where they see no problem exploiting human DNA, only because we are an easy and renewable source that has comparably lower technological means to defend itself. Well given that the universe is vast, and that we may only make up a minute part of that intelligent life. Would you not think there must be a myriad of religions out there in the universe? Some even more enlightened than our bunch of mystical offerings?

I pose this question to you, if ET race 1 is a fallen race (according to your definitions), and ET race 2,3,4, 999 all are more enlightened and spiritually more evolved than us. And have a greater grasp of spirituality and technology. Then who are we in our backwater part of the galaxy to "SAVE" other ET races? Seriously this is such a position of hubris that it begs belief.

    Good day.
