Sorry to say this, but both pictures have the black marks in the same place. It's something on the lens, or a defect within the camera's sensor.

Hi anonymous you are SO RIGHT....i sorted this one weeks ago on my pages at UFO Community on FB...Dust on CCD Chip in camera....i know this as a Pro Photographer for 37 years in UK Media....and Digital camera use since 2000 ....check this by looking at Sky pics or pics of WHITE sheet on Digital camera and the dust on the chip is BLACK....and you are right the marks are in the same place in both images...paul
Delete@Anonymous Mr. Aki a few things we can say for (fairly) certain. This is not a bug on the lens. And it is probably not a frisbee. Nor is Curiosity pulling a hoax on us. That just leaves the other few thousand, hundred thousand, how ever many people out there pouring over every image from the rover for proof of aliens. And It does beg the question, why would they be visiting Mars? It is to all observation a dead world, and there is a living and pretty lively one right next door. We have drinking, and shooting, and people staying up all night. Sounds like a party to me. We are just dying for some attention over here and practically shouting to the neighborhood to come on over.
ReplyDeleteOh, and did I need to point out that the camera is quite obviously pointing in a different direction in the second view? Even if there is an object flying around the Martian atmosphere looking for a all night taco stand, we wouldn’t likely see it by pointing the camera somewhere else.
Is there something in the first set of images? Yes, was it there when the picture was taken? To assume either way is to be as guilty of assumption as to say it is proof of aliens visiting Mars, or Martians out for an afternoon of flying. There is at least some justifiable reason for ET to come for a visit on Earth. Many people, from the laymen to members of the scientific community have postulated possible motives of alien visitation could range from colonization to mining to either benevolent or malevolent overlordship, or the conflict between the two.
Mars would seem to have very little to offer in any of those arenas unless we are going to add joy riding to the list.

DeleteOn both pictures you can see those black marks. Both of marks are at the exactly same place in both photos. Most probably they are just some dust particles on the lens. (And to the hoaxer: poor try - why didn't you put a red circle around the other black mark on the second photo?!? Probably because the hoax would be obvious then...)

ReplyDeletethis being a spec on the camera doesnt prove that Mars doesnt have life on it. Seems stupid to explore a planet supposedly "known" to be a dead planet instead of places on earth like the Amazon where there are still undiscovered tribes today. Mars has life on it. why else would people who are elected, waste such a great deal of money and time to get to mars when humans havent left the planets orbit since "1969" supposedly. if we EVER EVEN did reach 250,000 miles using fossil fuel technology from the 60s.

ReplyDeleteI am not disagreeing that this is most likely dust on the lens my only disagreement is placement and the amount of "specks" actually on the pictures. These pictures have many specks and they move. I see some right in front of the mountainous terrain and I see ones over top of it. This is most likely an optical misunderstanding based on the dirt but if you want to be clear do not hinge on one speck because that is not decisive enough to prove that this is not or could not be "many" objects. It is best to say most likely this is just dirt on the lens. Regardless of the position of the pieces. Wind and other stuff can move things around.

No one knows what UFO'S are whether they are man made alien made or just that unidentifiable objects but everyone should shut up saying what they are or not based on what THEY think by THEIR reasoning.If thy are alien we wouldn't have the slightest idea what they might thinking or doing

Exactly , my friend. We All know what the first three letters are in the word Assume . We are children, who are just starting kindergarden ,as far as they are concerned . The craft that have crashed , or have been shot-down . Yes, we may have learned some very advanced things. How ever are we smart enough to put this knowledge to Good use? How come the goverment is Still Surpressing all the information?
